Brinklow Vaughan

Has over 10-years of experience working with adults and children in the mental health . Specialized in CBT, EMDR, DBT

I am an experienced psychotherapist with years of experience working with individuals from all backgrounds with unique stories to tell and wounds to heal. I am passionate about empowering people to reach their full potential by healing and finding joy in their personal lives. Because no two people are the same, I use an eclectic approach to treatment utilizing various treatment modalities. Working together, I assist my clients in identifying their treatment goals and matching their needs with evidence-based treatment modalities. Each of us has varied experiences and complex emotions that shape our view of self and others. All emotions, even the uncomfortable ones, are part of our human experience and though it may seem easier to hide our emotions, we can only heal when we process our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions. I create a caring and nurturing environment where emotions can be explored safely. Everyday stressors that include anxiety depression and challenges within our relationships, impact each of us at various times in our lives.

Understanding no two people are the same, I collaborate closely with my clients to identify their individual needs and together we will find solutions to improve their quality of life. I warmly welcome people of all backgrounds and I have years of experience working closely with the LGBTQIA community, individuals with Autism/Neurodivergent, Minorities, and people from other countries of origin. All are accepted and valued in my practice.

As a Trauma-focused Therapist, I realize our past experiences influence the way we live and how we experience our day-to-day lives.  Trauma leaves a deep impact on every area of our life and together we will safely explore triggers that limit enjoyment and sense of peace. I am an EMDRIA-certified therapist who has had the privilege of witnessing countless induvial heal from their trauma and build the life they want to live. EMDR is the gold standard for treating PTSD, Addiction, and a host of other concerns. This structured therapy encourages the individual to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation which is associated with the reduction in the vividness and the emotions associated with the memory. By using EMDR to process traumatic memories, the brain can resume its natural healing.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in clinical psychology from the University of Central Florida and my Master of Social Work with a mental health focus in from the University of South Carolina. In addition to focusing my studies on clinical social work, I completed their program in Addiction Studies. For years I have worked closely with individuals with substance use disorder, from working in residential programs to leading an intensive outpatient program I desire to see individuals find freedom from their addictions using either the Harm Reduction Model or the Abstinence Model. Recovery is fully possible when we approach treatment with compassion and understanding and it is my honor to assist my clients in identifying their path to wellness.

When I am not working, you will find me cheering on UCF Sports and playing with my dogs. As a Miami native, I love spending time outside. Whether I am at the beach or one of Central Florida’s beautiful springs, the water is my favorite place to relax and unwind.
